Gilbert James "Jim" Adams, 73, of Union Springs, passed away so unexpectedly Monday, July 14, 2025 at his home. Born in Auburn, he was a life resident of the area and owned and operated A and T Transportation and Adams Logistics for more than 25 years until his "retirement." His last place of employment was Cayuga Drug and Alcohol Testing.
Words are hard to come by to express what a good man he was as he went through his life. He had an ability few possess and that was to understand and get along with people from all walks of life. This was his gift. His sense of humor can't be forgotten either. I know his children and grandchildren will pass that along.
As for me, from the words of the poem Funeral Blues by W.H. Auden:
"He was my North, my South, my East and West,
My working week and my Sunday rest,
My noon, my midnight, my talk, my song;
I thought that love would last forever: I was wrong."
He is survived by his best friend and wife of 47 years, Mary Beth Clancy Adams; his daughters, Heather Wheat (Bill) and Holley Dayman (Darren); son, James Stuart Adams (Jen); seven grandchildren: Karic, Brad (Kass), Ryan, Austin, William, Maisy and Kate; one great-grandchild, Antonio; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his mother, Frieda Jaskow; Jimmy is predeceased by five siblings; and the smallest love of his life, his best friend, Stella.
There are no services offered at this time. Arrangements are with White Chapel Funeral Home, Inc., 197 South St., Auburn
Jimmy would love any donations to go to Finger Lakes SPCA of CNY, 41 York Street, Auburn, NY 13021.
