Stephen Colbert reunited with Jimmy Kimmel, Jimmy Fallon, John Oliver, and Seth Meyers on the latest episode of 鈥楾he Late Show鈥 ahead of its finale on May 21. The late-night hosts previously teamed up during the 2023 writers鈥 strike for the 鈥楽trike Force Five鈥 podcast, raising money for their affected staff members. During the show, they also revealed that a new podcast episode will be released May 13 in support of the World Central Kitchen and its humanitarian and disaster relief meal programs. The TV legends discussed 鈥楾he Late Show鈥 ending, late-night television鈥檚 future, and US President Donald Trump鈥檚 fixation with late-night. Colbert asked the group if they ever expected a president to care so deeply about their work. Kimmel replied, 鈥淲e鈥檙e doing a job that his wife has strong feelings about.鈥 Meyers joked, 鈥淢ost of us have avoided that part.鈥 Oliver then recalled when Kimmel shared 鈥渁 picture of Melania mad at him鈥 in their late-night group chat. Kimmel was referring to his recent feud with First Lady Melania Trump, which began after he joked on-air that she had a glow like an 鈥渆xpectant widow.鈥 Meyers later made his case for late-night, joking that Trump posting on Truth Social during his broadcasts proves that 鈥渓eaders of the free world are watching it when it airs.鈥 CBS announced last July that it was cancelling 鈥楾he Late Show鈥 for what the broadcaster claims are 鈥減urely financial鈥 reasons.
