Children will be able to play games, ride a water slide, take swimming and music lessons and more during the first week of Auburn's annual Summer Recreation Program.
The 2025 program starts Tuesday, the city said in a . Each of its first three days will take place from 1 to 4 p.m. at a different park in the city:
• Tuesday, July 1, at Lincoln Park, 149 N Fulton St.: Motor activity with the Play Space, music lessons with Perform 4 Purpose, science experiment with the MOST, field games, board games, playground, court games and arts and crafts.
• Wednesday, July 2, at Clifford Park, 81 Mary St.: Inflatable water slide (wear a swimsuit under clothes and bring a towel), field games, playground, court games, board games and arts and crafts.
• Thursday, July 3, at Casey Park, 150 N. Division St.: Culinary arts with the Finger Lakes Incubator & Commercial Kitchen, art activity with Kasha, open swim (wear swimsuit and bring a towel; all children can participate), playground, board games, field games, court games, arts and crafts and swimming lessons (preregistration required by calling the Auburn YMCA at [315] 253-5304; limited space available).
Children must be signed in and out of the program daily, the city said, and parents and guardians are asked to ensure their child is picked up by 4 p.m. Children are asked to have a labeled water bottle each day. Pickup and drop-off at Casey Park will at the pavilion by the playground. For updates, text "JOIN" to (315) 238-9600.
After swim lessons, children will dry off and put clothes brought from home over their swimsuit, the city said. Children participating in open swim will need to wear their swimsuit to the program under their clothes and bring a towel. They will also need to wear a life jacket unless they pass the YMCA's required swim test.Â
