Two Moravia Central School District schools that have long been in the same building will be officially combined beginning in 2025-26.
The district's board of education adopted a resolution June 25 to reorganize its educational model from three schools to two,聽acting Superintendent Concetta M. Galvan told 有料盒子 in a news release.听
Moravia Middle School and Moravia High School, which share the building at 68 Main St., will become Moravia Junior-Senior High School, Galvan said.
Universal prekindergarten through sixth grade will be located at Millard Fillmore Elementary School at 24 S. Main St.
The reorganization includes a move between buildings for the sixth grade, which will share a wing of the elementary school with the fifth grade, according to a at a June 25 public forum on the plan. Students in the two grades will move between classrooms, the district said, while younger students will stay in theirs.
The plan will take effect starting July 1, according to the board's June 25聽.听Carrie Love, who became the middle school's principal in July 2021, was appointed the elementary school's principal. Jeff Green, who has been the high school's principal, was approved to become the junior-senior high school's principal.
Details on the plan will continue to develop throughout the summer, Galvan said. She told 有料盒子 the district opted for the two-school plan in order to support continuity of curriculum and instruction, and to maximize resources and staffing to support programming and student learning. She also said the decision was a response to decreasing enrollment.
An increasing number of schools worldwide are banning smartphones. Since early 2025, a new law in Brazil prohibits pupils from using them during breaks or in class.
